Where are you today? Ceramics 1

my pinch pot!

Well I am officially done with my project! It is exactly how I imagined it would look like! Although I have to say the clay didnt always do what I wanted it to do. When I wanted to attach the two parts of clay together, one was too big and the other was small so it was very difficult to make it fit together. To fix the problem I put pressure on the bigger piece so it would become smaller and I added the coil to the smaller piece and finally attached them! The slipping and scoring was kind of difficult as well because the piece of clay was really big and I have small hands so it was hard for me to handle them!
I have to say I love the outcome! It was totally worth the hard effort. It looks very nice and I am very pleased!

Pinch Pot: bottle

  • To slip means to put the very soft clay mixed with water on the edges of your work and to score means to with a tool we have to make lines on the edges that we slipped. That will help to keep the two pieces of clay together.
  • It's important to slip and score because it will help to keep the two pieces of clay together so the project wont fall apart. It also helps make the two pieces look like one.
  • I put my work on a spinning wheel so i could have control over the work and make it look symmetrical. I also used tools to smear the clay and make it look smooth.                           Bird's Eye View
